THE LIBRARY TABLE QUIZ





On Monday 23rd of October the annual library table quiz was held as part of the national book festival for 2006. Two teams from fifth and sixth represented the school. Team one [Jamie Gannon, Jamie Quinn and Liam Coppinger] came first with a fabulous score of 58 out of 60 questions correct. Team two [Fiona Gannon, Stephen Caufield and Emer Molloy] came fourth with a great score of 48 out of 60. This was a magnificent achievement for the school as it was the first time ever that the school had came first in this event. Everyone is very happy with the team and the school hopes to do just as well next year.

Winners of the Credit Union Quiz

On Sunday 28th of January Newcastle N.S were represented by Jamie Quinn, Jamie Gannon, Fiona Gannon and Liam Coppinger and substitute Dara Rohan (U13) and in the annual 16th Credit Union quiz held in the Raheen Woods Hotel. Twenty teams represented ten schools all from the Athenry area, answered 10 rounds/ 12 rounds (depending on U.11 or U.13 competitions).
The Newcastle U.13 team came out on top in the finish by two points followed by the previous year winners Boys School Athenry. During the middle of the game the Boy’s school were in first position but two rounds at the end of the quiz brought Newcastle to the top as we scored six out of six!! The U.11 team also did us proud!! As they did very well also. At the end of the evening the winning U.13 team of Newcastle were presented with prize money and a C.U. plaque each. We all had a great night and we hope this will be the first wins to come!! We would also like to thank the Athenry Credit Union for setting up the fantastic quiz!!
